Current Colonies Nominor
is the mirror opposite of it's larger and expansionistic older brother,
Arizona Nova. The homeworld of Nominor actually exists within the home
system of Arizona Nova, but as an independent state by Anithraldur's
grace. It is a lush, green world that, if one stumbled onto it without
prior knowledge, would look prime for mass colonization. However, they
would soon discover a proud, stubborn, and zealous people who would
surely drive them back if they brought "corrupting" influences
to their pristine planet, and living conditions that could, in Arizonan
eyes, be described as "fourth world," sparse and purposefully
backwards. Nominor's culture is by choice insular and isolationist.
There is little real central authority; the most real power lies in
the hands of local government, and most precisely, within the individual
families in Nominor. Any nation-wide edicts are usually common mores
among said families that can be pressed into law with little resistance;
furthermore, this ethereal central government is no more than a council
of families from across the planet who gather together once a year and
decide on new issues. The laws they make favor what one could consider
an unholy alliance of politics: green environmentalism, socialist economics,
social conservatism, and right-wing militarism. Corporations have been
driven from the planet, physically and otherwise, in favor of primitive
and spare local economies that, through familial ties, makes sure everyone
is fed, clothed, and sheltered. When one comes of age, they are trained
by their family for military service, and while equipped with primitive
weapons they make use of tactics, and guerrilla fighting which is assisted
greatly by the majority of the planet's terrain, which is jungles and
forests. When one is no longer fit for military service, they either
become part of the religious clergy of the area, becoming a monk or
a priest, or find some other niche occupation that best serves the family.
The churches of Nominor are little more than large clearings with primitive
benches, where trees loom up and form the walls and ceiling, and perhaps
an altar and pulpit hewn from the rocks. The Nominorian monks go into
isolation for deep contemplation of the Scriptures and an ascetic lifestyle,
though they do not turn away pilgrims asking for advice in their spiritual
or secular lives. Another quirk about Nominor is that it is fervently
anti-racist as well; anyone advocating such an ideology is coldly shunned
if not outright driven forth from their company. Finally, it is typical
of the governing counsel to, at times, pass legislation to confuse;
for example, it may act to crack down on free speech in one sense yet
radically expand it in another sense. Roleplay/IC Allies The ESUS: or Extra Solar Union of Systems, a trading and military alliance. The Prussian Empire: A large alliance of Christian nations, the Prussian Empire also has a considerable presence in Sol and Haven. Vvardenfell: I hope I spelt that correctly. Vvardenfell is the region started by Great Carthage, mainly for those who frequented BG2Customs.com. Great Carthage: This fine fellow deserves first mention. A good friend of mine from ye olde defunct realm of BG2Customs.com forums, he was the one who originally introduced me to NationStates. He gets my Most Open-Minded award, and the King of Spam Medal of Honor. Do not confuse him with Galdania. The Gate of Eden: Military and economic ally of Arizona Nova, started by a friend and alumni of my school. Current activities with the Empire include design and construction of a capital ship for FT RP. Jeruselem: Founder of the Defenders of the Faith alliance and a fellow member of the Prussian Empire, Jeruselem is a powerful Catholic nation that lent aid during the HSOC crisis. Siesatia: though Arizona Nova is allied with the entire ESUS, it has had a close relationship with Siesatia than most other nations. Arizona Nova's Gray Ops. Special Forces program had extensive training in a Siesetian camp, and Siesetia reviewed and worked with Arizonan legislators on improving the Sentient Civil Rights Act. Jordaxia: A Sol-based ESUS member, the Jordaxian Halo was the site for the fulfillment of the Great Prophecy of Tyrion. Jordaxia is also one of the Senior Directors of the ESUS, and a very active roleplayer. Arenumberg: first encountered in the ESUS after sending a distress signal to Arizona Nova, Arenumberg's relations with the Empire have - been chaotic. Recently an enclave of the original natives of this state - elves - were discovered in the Koratu System during a colonization effort. Graciously the elves allowed the settlers to stay on the planet, and soon the nations entered into an alliance. Otagia: Discovered during the opening weeks of the First War of Expansion, Otagia is a most curious nation which is lead by an arch-digital-sentient that is networked throughout the brains of its populace. Otagia sold an entire system to Arizona Nova, plus lent support during the War. Afterwards, Otagian scientists worked alongside Arizonan and Rhunate scientists to forge the "God's Own Suit" armors. Ald Rhun: closely associated with Otagia, Ald Rhun was not encountered during the First War of Expansion, yet when Arizonan scientists learned of the valuable contributions the Rhunates could make for the GOS project from the Otagians, they were immediately contacted and welcomed into the clandestine research group. Flaming Souls: another nation encountered during the First War of Expansion, Flaming Souls was also found to be an ESUS member. Though they lent assistance during the war, the most remarkable occurence is that Flaming Souls commissioned Arizonan artists to make their flag. The result was so good that the Emperor himself became annoyed that the Flaming Souls flag seemed to have a higher quality workmanship to it than even the Arizonan flag. Torontonias: One of the foremost of the Traditionalist nations in the ESUS, and a member of the Union of Free Worlds, Torontonias is thus twice-allied to the Arizonan Empire. After the Atrocity at Yonder, Arizona Nova was moved to defend the stricken Torontonians as the onslaught of the Centralist Powers began. Outer Heaven MK II: First encountered in the Chyrsham System, which they had earmarked for demolition as to harvest resources, Outer Heaven MK II also joined the Galactic Alliance soon after the Imperial Corporate Nautocracy.
Allanea: A long-time ally of Arizona Nova, Allanea has established an enclave of Dohwar and humans on the world of Egureo. The Allanean military is acknowledged as being one of the most frequent and valued - if slightly eccentric - customers of United Federal Shipbuilders, and quite possibly their use of the Hughie Mark II has made it far more famous (or infamous) internationally than Arizonan use of the vessel. Theledar: The nation of Theledar is the remnant, so to speak, of the nation Esox Maximus. Their nation was destroyed under mysterious circumstances and the Theledarians were all that remained, escaping in the ship Faith and Freedom. They were discovered decades later during the Battle of Crucible Entrace 5.59284, and were immediately escorted back to Arizonan space to replenish their supplies and to be offered general assistance.
Metallinauts: One of the premier trade partners of Arizona Nova, Metallinauts' Contracting Corporation and Arizona Nova's Imperial Docks Inc. merged to create United Federal Shipbuilders.
Gameplay Allies Trust in the Lord: Another well known sanctum of believers on NationStates. It is an open region welcome to all types, and has itself endured invasions by hostile powers intent on tarnishing their name. To note, recently the region has been password protected again, for reasons currently unknown to ANI. Tianyuan: Former colony of Arizona Nova, Tianyuan has been returned to its former ruler, who graciously accepted it back. He has two other nations as well, Haoni and Indigo-star. All of them are accounted as valued friends of the Imperial Corporate Nautocracy. Ryanania: Arizona Nova became first acquainted with Ryanania when it began plans, long ago, to build a conventianal navy, though those plans have long since become defunct. Since then, the two nations have remained on good terms with each other. Trifoil: A good aquaintance of mine. Trifoil has been a friend of the Isle, and then the Realm, literally for years. Though he has retired, he has left a legacy as a longtime U.N. Delegate of Trust in the Lord, and an accomplished debater. We will always remember Trifoil. In Memorial A memorial to those allied nations who were deleted, for whatever reason. Isle of Believers: Arizona Nova's former home region, it was decided that the region would be disbanded upon the death of the nation of The Priests and refounded as the "Realm of Believers" by the Christian Queendom of Megina in 606-608 A.C.E.
Caelum Davidis: Another close friend and associate of Anithraldur. Casual NS player, and thus has no plans as yet to join the RPing. Flag designed (at least recolored) by Anithraldur.
The Golden Stallion: This is the nation of my little sibling, which the blighter let die from inattention.
Winter Phoenix: The latest incarnation of my sibling on NationStates. Hopefully this one will not meet the same fate as the last one... but it did.
Quarka: Our former U.N. Delegate, Quarka was tough-talking, but didn't just talk the talk. He was very active in the U.N., and many of his proposals had at least gotten close to voting in the General Assembly of the N.S.U.N. Quarka was not a nation to cross, either IC or OOC, and Anithraldur is glad that his nation was not on Quarka's wrong side. His loss is a detriment to us all.
The Priests: Founder of the IOB, The Priests does not rule with an iron fist, but he does have expectations that he sets for all Isle members. While some do not agree with these rules, there is little doubt, at least in my mind, that the Isle would not be as large and prosperous as it is without The Priests guidance, nor be as secure as it is. His loss comes as a shock to us all, and the people of the region he founded will not forget him.
Esox Maximus: Yet another good friend of Anithraldur from his former school, Esox Maximus had joined Arizona Nova in the IoB and in standing up to Chellisian aggression.
Lessir Tsurani: a mysterious nation whose first contact with Arizona Nova involved the annihalation of the Arizonan envoy, Lessir Tsurani and Arizona Nova immediately engaged in war afterwards. After the first war, not much contact was made with Lessir Tsurani, until the reformation of the Galactic Alliance. Lessir Tsurani joined it as well, technically removing them from the Watchlist and 'promoting' the nation to allied status.
Neo-Kalandria: Another founding member of the Union of Free Worlds, Neo-Kalandria was a more isolationist nation than most, but with the coming of war in the ESUS, Neo-Kalandria promised its ships and strength to the Neutralists. Resurrection requests sent regarding his nation were lost or ignored, and it is now believed Neo-Kalandria is permantly lost to the sands of time.
