Description:
The Elissa Class battleship is a ship designed in the same vein as the Vanguard - deadly efficient, but elegant and powerful. In the late 750s, the Schicksalschiff, long a bulwark of the Arizonan navy, was beginning to show its age. Increased use of gravitic sensors internationally was making its once top of the line cloaking device obsolete, as the "shadow" it cast through its sheer bulk was enough to give it away very quickly. Also considered was the nature of the Shicksalschiffs main weapon array, which was designed less for breaking ships than breaking worlds. It was agreed that the current climate demanded something incredibly hard to destroy, with the range to strike nearly anywhere, wherever it was. To this end the Elissa Class Superbattleship performs admirably, packing a great number of new Mjolnir missile tubes - essentially larger versions of the Nova Phoenix missiles - and for closer combat, the Elissa class utilizes more recent advances in MAC technology, moving them from being spinal-mount weapons only to the turret. Where before entire ships would be built around a single cannon, which could only ever face one direction, the Elissa is bristling with smaller, but still very powerful, batteries of H-MACs. The firepower of squadrons of Vanguard cruisers is duplicated in one Elissa class. Also blessed with advanced communications, sensor, and locomotive systems, the Elissa is a new pinnacle in Arizonan design, and destined to be a mighty addition to the fleet.
