Description:
During combat situations, the Navy found the Pleiades not able to pack suitable punch for certain operations, and found the more tactical (and more expensive and fragile) Meuchelmörder too much of a liability in pitched fighter battles. The call was made for a heavier, chunkier fighter which could take punishment, and dish it out generously. To that end, the Freelancer fighter was designed, a heavy fighter crammed into a small spaceframe. While not a very cheap ship, the Freelancer does give better assurance that the pilot flying her will make it home when the battle is over.
