Culture of the Empire

While many Terran ideals and inventions are ensconced within the larger Arizonan culture, local and ancient traditions still abound, and certain physical characteristics of the Arizonan people shape attitudes and ideas. For example, a majority of the Anikari are left-handed as opposed to being mostly right-handed. Similarly, sexual dimorphism is much less pronounced, and by and large is nearly non-existent. The people are for the most part even-tempered in their manner, being not prone to rash words and action. This also unfortuneatly makes them slow to move and act, which in the fast-paced world of intergalactic politics can cause, or rather, allow tragedies to happen. However, the populace has a few distinct fears which can drive them to action very quickly - above all, temporal technology is hated and feared like witchcraft was in Medieval Europe - even suspecting a person to own anything remotely related to it is enough to get this person lambasted in public, and hostile, aggressive action from any Temporal Accord nation which is observed by the Arizonan populace is usually considered a hot news item by the Arizonan media corporations, and have been known to spark riots. The annihalation of the Torontonian moon Yonder by Metallinauts sparked intense rioting on the homeoworld and was a decisive factor in pushing the Empire into the ESUS Civil War. Their second greatest fear, which is instilled mostly by education than anything, is that of the Central Facehuggerian Empire, though rumors of change in their Empire may soon drive a change in attitude toward them; as well Anikar is considering banning anti-Facehuggerian propaganda from circulation. Finally, nations which are anti-religious - either highly critical of religion and "noisy" about it, or outright hostile toward it in the sense that they persecute religious folk widely - are also decried by the people.

Religions Within the Empire

Freedom of and from Religion is one of the rights laid down in the Sentient Civil Rights Act, and as such, no official religion can be established.

Due to the great size of the Empire, it is difficult to run censuses, as the ebb and flow of people in the Empire and the variance of opinion in the population and even in individuals makes pinpoint accuracy nearly impossible. The following is estimates based on the results of thr most advanced and esteemed polling group in the empire. It was taken 631 A.C.E.

The National Seal

The National Seal of Arizona Nova is a seperate device from the flags and seals of the military, and is considered 'immutable,' whereas the flag changes with whatever ruling house is in power. The phoenix is the central device in the seal, and is a symbol of the Resurrection and, in a sense, endurance and an indomitable spirit. It clasps two flaming swords, which are both symbols of Judgement Day and a symbol of the nation's military might. The three crosses symbolize both Calvary and the original three systems of the empire. Four stars are above the phoenix, symbolize the four current systems of the Empire. The motto of the empire surrounds the entire construct, displayed in all four of the official languages.

Evolution of the Arizona Novanian Flag: Hover mouse over flag images, wait for tooltips:

This initial design was the first known prototype to the flag-the diagonal bar variation. It was never finally considered, however. This was the flag finally decided upon as the official flag. Based on a concept born within the head of Emperor Anithraldur years before Arizona Nova, or NationStates. God has great timing... This is the refined version of the flag-converted to GIF form, and transparent in the areas deemed not to be part of the flag (so that there will be no confusion). This is the next-to-latest version of the flag. Three stars have been added to symbolize the fatherland of Arizona Nova, and the states of Nominor, and Tinechordor, its colonies. This is the latest version of the flag. Three stars have been added to symbolize the fatherland of Arizona Nova, and the states of Nominor, and Tinechordor, its colonies. A fourth star has been added for Tianyuan, and then Kerith Ravine. This is the latest version of the flag. Three stars have been added to symbolize the fatherland of Arizona Nova, and the states of Nominor, and Tinechordor, its colonies. A fourth star has been added for Tianyuan, and then Kerith Ravine. The new symbol's meaning is for me to know, and loyal allies to find out.

The "old new" flag, this was the flag of Arizona Nova under the rule of Anithraldur. It bears a blue-red field and the seal of House Riti in the middle; the sword and cresecent, surrounded by the stars and the +I symbol   This is the new Arizonan flag, that of Anikar. It instead has a red-black field and the symbol of Anikar - a steel dragon. Everything else remains the same.

The flag of Nominor (Quenya: Land of Wisdom, Wise Land). Lacking access to any good image editors, Arizona Nova must make due with divers freeware and Paint. Nominor's flag is a combination of the Virgin Island's eagle, the Cook Island's star ring, and colored fields and stripes. It does mean something-but what, I haven't figured out yet. Tinechordor's flag is... well, a flag. The symbol in the middle, a buckler, and three crossed swords, is from art from the role-playing game Baldur's Gate. The two flags are Arizona Novanian flags, put in the left and right fields to symbolize the loyalty of Tinechordor to Arizona Nova. And the horizontal red bar on the white field, behind it all, just looks nice. The old "new" flag of Tianyuan is the "old" flag in the center, but encompassed and surrounded by the rays of the Alliance Jack. It was debated whether or not to include the old flag at all in the new design, but a compromise was reached by putting the old flag into the center of the Jack. This is the new flag of Kerith Ravine. Recolored in recently acquired PSP8, stars have also been added to it, 4 stars as per Arizona Nova's flag. Arizona Nova and Kerith Ravine are now the "dual flagship" states of the ANA.

The American Samoa flag is the flag that all states-Arizona Nova and all its colonies-have used upon their founding, until a new flag is created. It is a good flag, and uses the color scheme that all Arizona Novanian states usually use. The Cook Islands star ring was cut and pasted and its colors converted for Nominor's flag. The Micronesian star was cut from its flag to make the stars on the fourth and fifth flags of Arizona Nova. Nothing less than a perfect star. The Virgin Islands eagle is the symbol in the star ring in Nominor's flag.
